Women of Potential International Commemorate the Day of the African Child - June 16, 2024 at the New Generation Academy New England Makeni. This annual event commemorates the 1976 Soweto Uprising, where thousands of black schoolchildren marched in protest against the poor quality of education and demanded their right to be taught in their own language. The theme for this year was “Education for all African all African Children, the time is now" The celebration was aimed at promoting children's rights to education.

In His statement the Representative from the Ministry of Gender and children’s affairs Mr Marrah stated that every child has potential and it is their right to access quality education at all levels. To climax the commemoration a Fun filled activity was conducted.
